Some vacations are about family memories.
Some are about showing the kids somewhere new.
Some involve educational activities because Mom has once again figured out how to sneak history into vacation.
And some vacations are drop the kids off with the grandparents…
“Okay kids, love you. BYE. 😂”
Biloxi was one of those.
This was an adults-only weekend for us, and honestly?
Biloxi understood the assignment.
Casinos.
Seafood.
A little gambling money.
A LOT of wandering.
A spa day.
And somehow I went to Mississippi knowing how to play blackjack and five-card poker…
and came home emotionally attached to a craps table.
Tiny Trip Snapshot 🚆
Where: Biloxi, Mississippi
Who: Adults only ❤️
Length: Thursday night → Sunday
Stayed: Palace Casino Resort
Trip Style: Casino hopping + food + spa + Gulf Coast weekend
Favorite Casino: Treasure Bay
Favorite New Discovery: Craps 🎲
Sweet Stop: Sugar Factory
Would We Go Back? Absolutely.
And next time I’m heading for the craps table.
Getting There Without Flying 🚗
Obviously…
we drove.
At this point, are we surprised?
Biloxi works really well as a long-weekend road trip for us because we could head down Thursday, have Friday and Saturday to actually enjoy ourselves, and come home Sunday.
And honestly?
That was the perfect amount of time.
Long enough that it felt like a real getaway.
Short enough that we didn’t need a full week of PTO.
This is exactly the kind of trip I mean when I talk about using our time strategically.

Wait…Biloxi Has a Beach? 🌊
When you hear Biloxi, you probably think:
Casinos. 🎰
And yes. There are PLENTY of those.
But Biloxi is also sitting right on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, with white-sand beaches stretching along the waterfront. The city itself describes Biloxi as a combination of beaches, seafood, fishing, historic sites and casino resorts—which is honestly a pretty accurate description of how the whole place feels.
We didn’t come to Biloxi for a beach vacation.
If I’m planning to spend my days with my toes in the sand, I’m probably heading to Cape San Blas.
But having the coast right there changes the entire atmosphere of a casino trip.
You can spend the evening sitting at a blackjack table…
then walk outside and you’re back on the Gulf Coast deciding where you’re going to eat fresh seafood.
It’s a slightly unusual combination:
Casino town + beach town + seafood town.
And somehow…
it works.
Wait…THIS Place Is HOW Old?! 📖
And because apparently I am incapable of visiting somewhere without eventually wondering…
“Okay, but what happened here?”
Biloxi has a LOT more history than I realized.
People lived on the Biloxi peninsula for thousands of years before Europeans arrived. French explorer Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville arrived in the area in 1699, where his expedition encountered the Biloxi people. The settlement would also briefly serve as the capital of French Louisiana before the capital eventually moved to New Orleans.
So while I’m walking around thinking…
“Oooh, where should we play blackjack next?”
…I’m wandering around a community with more than 300 years of recorded colonial history.
Biloxi later became an important seafood center, with seafood canneries operating by the late 1800s and the industry becoming a major part of the city’s economy and identity.
And the casinos?
Those are actually a much newer chapter.
Casino gambling arrived in Biloxi in 1992, changing the city’s tourism economy. Then Hurricane Katrina devastated Biloxi in 2005, destroying homes and businesses and causing tremendous damage along the waterfront. Biloxi rebuilt, creating another chapter in a city that has already seen quite a few of them.
I had NO idea there was this much history behind the slot machines.
History is weird.
And I kind of love that.

Where We Stayed: Palace Casino Resort 🏨🎰
We stayed at Palace Casino Resort, and there was one VERY important reason I liked this choice:
It’s smoke-free.
😊
And not just the hotel rooms—the Palace identifies itself as Biloxi’s smoke-free casino resort.
That makes a huge difference for me.
I enjoy casinos.
I do NOT enjoy walking around smelling like I’ve personally smoked a pack of cigarettes by the time I get back to my room.
The Palace gave us the casino-resort experience without that.
And there’s another reason I’d stay here again…
THE SPA.
But we’ll get to that.
Because first…
We gambled.
Casino Hopping: Apparently This Is My Kind of Bar Crawl 🎰😂
One of my favorite parts of Biloxi was that we didn’t just pick one casino and stay there.
We casino hopped.
We walked between most of the casinos along the main stretch, which honestly became part of the fun.
We’d play somewhere for a while.
Wander to another casino.
Look around.
Meet people.
Play another game.
Keep moving.
Boomtown was a bit farther out, so we drove from Palace over there and then continued our casino hopping from there.
And somehow we managed to win enough here and there to give ourselves a little extra walking-around money.
🙌
Now let me be clear:
I am not giving gambling advice.
I’m simply reporting that on THIS particular trip…
the casinos occasionally gave some of our money back.
And I appreciated their generosity.

Hard Rock 🎸
Even if you don’t gamble there, I think Hard Rock is worth walking through.
We didn’t play anything.
We just wandered around looking at everything.
The memorabilia, decor and atmosphere make the casino itself feel like part of the entertainment.
It’s one of those places where you can just walk through and think:
“Okay…this is cool.”

Beau Rivage ✨
And then there’s Beau Rivage.
This one gave me major nostalgia.
It was beautiful, polished and grand—and somehow reminded me of the old-school Vegas casinos I remember seeing when I was a kid in the ’90s.
There’s just something about it.
Even if you aren’t staying there, walk through it.

Boomtown 🎲
Boomtown was where we found some really inexpensive table-game buy-ins.
Which I LOVE when you’re casino hopping.
I don’t necessarily want to commit a giant chunk of my gambling budget every time I sit down somewhere new.
Give me a cheap table.
Let me play.
Let me have fun.
It was pretty slow while we were there, though, so eventually we moved on.
IP Casino
Next stop: IP.
Nice casino.
Friendly staff.
And financially?
We accomplished…
absolutely nothing.
Didn’t really win.
Didn’t really lose.
We basically played for free.
Honestly?
I’ll take it.
Casino entertainment where I leave with approximately the same amount of money I walked in with is a successful evening in my book.
Golden Nugget ✨
We also stopped at Golden Nugget and played slots for a while.
Slots and I have a complicated relationship.
I WANT to love them.
I want to sit down, press a button and have the machine suddenly announce:
CONGRATULATIONS, YOU’RE RICH NOW.
Unfortunately, the machines have yet to cooperate with this plan.
I never seem to have much luck with slots.
Which is probably why I keep ending up back at the tables.
Treasure Bay: And Then I Found Craps 🎲🙌
Treasure Bay was my favorite casino of the entire trip.
Hands down.
We walked in around 8 p.m., and this is where the trajectory of my gambling career changed forever.
Until this trip, my go-to games were blackjack and five-card poker.
I understand cards.
Cards make sense.
Then there’s craps.
Have you LOOKED at a craps table?!
There are numbers everywhere.
People are yelling.
Dice are flying.
Chips are moving.
Everyone appears to know something you don’t.
But the attendants at Treasure Bay were fantastic.
They explained the game.
Gave me pointers.
Helped me understand what was happening.
And pretty quickly…
I GOT IT.
Treasure Bay still offers craps among its table games, so this is one experience you can still find there today.
And then something even better happened.
We started making money.
🙌🙌🙌
Remember our gambling budget?
We doubled it.
Tiny Tip: Set the Gambling Budget BEFORE You Gamble 🎲💰
When we go gambling, we always decide how much we’re willing to spend before we start, and we stick to it.
For this trip, we took $300 total to play with.
That’s entertainment money.
If it’s gone, it’s gone.
Also…
I’m a sore loser. 😂
So when I start losing?
I’m DONE.
There is no dramatic:
“I can win it back!”
No ma’am.
I’m taking whatever I have left, along with my wounded pride, and finding something else to do.
That’s actually one of my biggest tips for a casino trip: decide ahead of time what amount you’re completely comfortable spending for entertainment.
Don’t count on winning.
If you lose your predetermined entertainment budget, the entertainment is over.
If you break even?
You basically played for free.
And if you win?
Well…
Thank you very much, Biloxi.
Because on this particular trip, our $300 actually turned into about $600 at the craps table.
So we got our original gambling money back plus roughly $300 in winnings, which ended up covering food, drinks and gas on the trip too.
🙌
Am I suggesting you finance your vacation through a craps table?
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
We went in fully prepared to lose that $300 because we’d already decided that was our entertainment budget.
But did doubling it make the trip considerably more memorable?
YES.
Especially because poker had betrayed me this go-around.
Apparently I just needed to find my game.
Blackjack girl. Poker girl. And now…craps girl. 🎲😂
Margaritaville 🌴
We also went through Margaritaville, which is another fun resort to explore.
And that’s something I liked about Biloxi in general.
You don’t have to gamble at every casino.
Some are just fun to walk through.
Look around.
Grab something to eat.
Have a drink.
People-watch.
Then move along.
The casino hopping itself became one of our activities.
From Craps Table to Facial 😂🧖♀️
And THIS may have been my favorite scheduling decision of the entire weekend.
After a night of gambling, staying up late and wandering from casino to casino…
we had a spa day.
We went to PURE The Palace Spa, right inside our hotel.
And we did not mess around.
We hadn’t even originally planned a couples massage, but somehow our spa day turned into:
Couples massage.
Facials.
Mani/pedis.
Steam room.
Sauna.
Basically…
undo whatever we did to ourselves the night before.
PURE currently offers massages, facials and nail services, so this is still very much an option if you’re planning a similar weekend.
I spent some time in the steam room and sauna too.
And let me tell you…
PHEW.
🔥
It was HOT.
But afterward?
My skin looked AMAZING.
That facial + steam-room combination gave me that extra little:
✨ I have slept eight hours a night, drink two gallons of water a day and absolutely did not stay up gambling last night ✨
glow.
The spa day after casino night was PERFECT.
I would absolutely plan it that way again.

We’re on the Gulf Coast. Obviously We’re Eating Seafood. 🦐
You cannot put me this close to the water and expect me not to go looking for seafood.
That’s unreasonable.
Catch 110 🐟
Catch 110 was delicious.
We ordered the snapper and loved it.
The service was wonderful too, which can absolutely make or break a nicer dinner for me.
Catch 110 focuses on coastal dining and currently lists fresh fish selections on its menu.
This was one of those meals that just fit the trip.
We’re on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Give me the fish.
Half Shell Oyster House 🦪
We also ate at Half Shell Oyster House.
Now…
I don’t actually like oysters.
Which seems slightly problematic when you’re walking into a restaurant with OYSTER HOUSE in the name.
But don’t let that stop you if you’re like me.
Their menu goes well beyond oysters and includes plenty of other seafood options.
So if Sean wants oysters?
Wonderful.
I’ll find something else from the ocean.
Everybody wins.
Tiny Traveler Sweet Stop 🍰
Okay.
Technically we ate an entire meal here.
But we all know why I’m putting it in the Sweet Stop section.
Sugar Factory 🍭🥤
We went to Sugar Factory, and this place is an EXPERIENCE.
We had burgers, and they were actually really good.
But let’s be serious.
I came for dessert.
We split the Cookie Jar Milkshake.
And THAT…
was exactly what my sweet tooth needed.
Over-the-top?
Yes.
Necessary?
Also yes.
I actually learned afterward that Sugar Factory is a chain, which surprised me because I’d never been to one.
Normally I’m very much a:
“We’re traveling—let’s eat somewhere local!”
person.
But every once in a while a chain restaurant fits the trip so perfectly that I don’t care.
Sugar Factory belonged on this weekend.
And this is one place from our adults-only Biloxi trip that I immediately thought:
Okay…we have to bring the kids here sometime.
Adults-Only Biloxi? YES. 🎰❤️
Could you take kids to Biloxi?
Of course.
There are family things to do along the Gulf Coast.
But this particular Biloxi trip?
Adults only.
Absolutely.
We weren’t trying to build an itinerary around everybody.
We could gamble until we were ready to leave.
Wander into another casino.
Sit at a table and meet new people.
Eat when we felt like eating.
Sleep.
Get up.
Go to the spa.
Go gamble again.
It was just…
easy.
And I think that’s why Thursday through Sunday worked so well.
We didn’t need a week.
We needed a few days to go be grown-ups.
Worth the PTO? 🚆
Yes.
Especially because this doesn’t HAVE to eat up a ton of it.
Thursday night arrival.
Friday.
Saturday.
Home Sunday.
That’s enough time to gamble, casino hop, have some really good meals, fit in an entire spa day and still come home feeling like you actually went somewhere.
And because we won a little money along the way?
Well…
Biloxi was kind enough to partially reimburse us for our vacation.
I’m sure they’ll be wanting that money back next time.
How I’d Do Biloxi Again 🎲
I’d honestly repeat the formula.
Stay at Palace.
I really appreciate the smoke-free environment.
Casino hop.
Don’t feel like you need to play everywhere. Some casinos are worth visiting just to see them and maybe stopping at the bar for a drink.
Set a gambling budget and stick to it.
Our $300 limit kept gambling fun rather than stressful.
Go to Treasure Bay.
Apparently I have a craps table waiting for me.
Eat seafood.
We’re on the Gulf Coast. Act accordingly.
Schedule the spa AFTER your late casino night.
Trust me on this one.
And finally…
Thursday through Sunday.
For us, that was the sweet spot.
Long enough to have a real adults-only getaway.
Short enough that it was easy to fit into real life.
We came home relaxed.
Well fed.
Slightly better at craps.
My skin was glowing.
And—miraculously—
with a little of the casino’s money still in our pockets.
🙌😂
I’d call that a successful weekend.
Tiny traveler. Big adventures. No airplanes required. 🚆❤️
